Collaged
rip yourself up glue yourself down
Sea sons greetums
it’s the time of year I pull out my portfolios from the closet, put all the paper within in a big pile and do some memory lane reminiscing. There are some paintings that have a certain quality and I put them in a separate pile. Hard to say what that quality is. It’s like a vibe that they are destined for something else. They are probably jobs or drafts or old ones that never found homes or fell out of favor. They are now in the station heading for their destination. The shredder.
I think there is an inevitability for things to eventually become mashed together. Its natural. Planets collide. Genres collide. Genes collide. Ideas coagulate. Here I just want to minimize the “pile”. Bind the times. I have too many pieces ( if you ever want to see the work i have available please reach out. you could rescue a piece from this fate. however its too late for anything in the prior photo)
I try not to get too precious about things. If it were only prints being ripped up it really wouldnt have the same effect. The originals, even if Im not sentimental about em, hold a different weight. Just thinking about all the time spent on this stuff is kinda wild. hoursssssss getting ripped up. Rip it up. “Creation. Destruction.”

The ripping is better than scissors. this isnt a fancy pants operation. stick my finger in the glue, goop it all over. its really so much fun! truly. drawing at times can feel uptight, at least thats the place i take drawing a lot of times. collaging is a great release. once a year around the holidays with a big glass dish of old man candy, rootbeer barrels, coffee werthers, peppermints, creme savers. theres snow outside now. theres miles davis on cassette. wool poncho blanket.
bricks, stonework, and tiles really shine here and there

so do bushes, leafy things, patternish things.

have a couple more in the works so unveil those soon.
alas the collages have begun to pile as well. will need to do a collage show someday

welp thats what ive been up to. a lot more than this but this is a solid report. Further Thoughts 2 is in the works - The Major Arcana! The next post probably will dive into the soup. Insane times out there. Stay aware. Question everything. Shine your light fellow furtherer. My blessings to you and yours.
